Camino de Santiago (from St Jean) (May 15, 2009, 01:49:57 PM) |
quote |
Hi guys
My fiance and I are planning on doing the camino in August. Our initial plans were to start from St Jean, but since then, from what we have heard and read, is that August is not only the busiest time of year to do the camino, but also to start on the first weekend of August is even busier (we were planning to start on the 1st, which happens to be a Saturday).
So now we are wondering if we should start a few days earlier (will that make a difference) or even if we should start from a different place? We have till September to complete the Camino (+- 5 weeks). Any advice would be much appreciated.
Also, we are now trying to sort out travel arrangements. We will be leaving from London... any advice on this (costs mainly) would also be a HUGE help!
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to this post

Hi Uwe I am starting from St Jean on the 16th of August. I was not aware of the Holy Year thing until after making all the arrangements and paying for my airfare!. But, i am determined not to let this small detail put me off the yourney of a lifetime. I am flying from jhb to Paris where i will meet my daughter ( flying in from Taiwan) and then by train to St Jean. We also have until the third week in september to finish the walk. I think the main thing is to let the Camino do its work, you only have to do the walking. Lots of luck and be happy
