Welcome to the new home of the Confraternity of Saint James of South Africa.

In 1999 only 9 pilgrims from South Africa received the Compostela – the certificate awarded on completion of the pilgrimage. This figure grew to 262 in 2007. Our aim is to provide pilgrims with as much information as possible to ensure they have a pleasant and rewarding pilgrimage. You can research the various routes by going to our ROUTES page.

On our LINKS pages we share a number of useful links to help you plan your daily walking scheduleI, your budget etc. If we can help you in any way, please contact us by using the email request form on this website.

We issue a ‘Credencial’ – the pilgrim’s passport - which allows you to access to the pilgrim refuges in France and Spain and is also accepted by the Oficina Peregrinos in Santiago for the issuing of the Compostela. Please use the DOWNLOAD link for an application form.

For a low annual membership fee you will receive our quarterly newsletter “Amigos” as well as a monthly camino up-date from the Chairman. We have a smart cloth badge which you can sew onto your hat or backpack, as well as a lapel pin with our logo on it.

We welcome feedback on the different routes to Santiago and if you would like to contribute an article for our newsletter, please send it to the Editor.
